Get a free Crossfit Assessment! If you are a Crossfit athlete or a beginner, you’ve come the the right place. Joe Poloni PT, DPT has been a CrossFit athlete for over 3 years. Over that time, he has developed and in depth knowledge of the sport and its demands. At Ignite Physical Therapy it is our goal to keep you in the game and improve your performance by breaking down areas of limitation, restriction or hypermobility and applying interventions which will directly lead to improved performance and eliminate pain.
Crossfit is a unique sport in that athletes are often challenged to their maximal aerobic/anaerobic capacity 4-6 days/week. Movements are often heavy and/or repetitive in nature making proper form and technique crucial for injury prevention and management. It is not uncommon for CrossFit athletes to develop overuse injuries such as achilles tendonitis, rotator cuff impingement, patellar tendonitis as well as injuries such as sacroiliac sprains, lumbar strains/sprains and hamstring/calf strains. Too often, with proper warm-up, cool down and exercise technique, these injuries are preventable and easily treated so get a free Crossfit Assessment.
During your Crossfit Assessment, you will be evaluated from head to toe and made aware of any movement dysfunction which may be limiting your performance and putting you at risk for injury. We will develop a program to address any areas of hypo or hypermobility which you can incorporate into the warm-up and cool down phases of you workout. If indicated, we will go over certain movements/lifts to ensure they are being performed in a safe manner. You will be taught the bracing sequence which makes you virtually injury-proof during heavy or repetitive activity.
When movement dysfunction is corrected, athletes regularly achieve PRs (personal records) in benchmark WODs (workout of the day) and olympic lifts and report improved overall athletic performance.
